I was born with a debilitating lung disease called Bronchiectasis. My life throughout childhood and into my adult years was riddled with much illness and many hospital stays. Due to disease, I was unable to have children, but I do have a son and a daughter through adoption. My breathing worsened as I grew older. By the time I was in my early 40’s I required oxygen 24/7. On May 3, 2008, I received the gift of life through organ donation with a double lung transplant. Life was extremely different and wonderful, and then in November 2011, I went into rejection. On December 14, 2011, I received the gift of life again. Since then, life has not been without its challenges, but I always say, “I am alive and breathing with no oxygen, and I am thankful for that. “
I became a volunteer for the LTSO so that I can give back. I was very fortunate and blessed along my transplants journey so I want to do what I can to help others. The years that I have been a part of this organization have been awesome. The individuals that work together have become family. We share a special bond, and we welcome new members to our family always.
Come join us for our events, or maybe share a little in the way of donation if you are able. Together we will continue to support the transplant community.
